119 (Fellowship Room)
The common view of God among many is that he is a wrathful and angry deity, smiting people right and left for no apparent reason. They point to sections in the Old Testament where God appears as capricious and malevolent, wiping out armies and punishing enemies with extreme prejudice. Yet alongside these troublesome passages are pictures of God’s love, goodness, and patience with people.
How do we make sense of these seeming contradictions? What can we do to change the world’s view of God from arbitrary punisher to lover and rescuer of humanity? This class will explore the character of God as revealed in the Old Testament, and challenge us to live in a way that powerfully demonstrates God’s transformative love.
