February 20, 2022 | Dr. Jack Reese

Too often we have seen baptism as merely a step to take—an important step, to be sure, but still just a step, a requirement, a work to be done. We do it because we’re supposed to. We want to get it right, do it in the right way and for the right reasons. It’s not that those are bad instincts. Obedience to God is no small thing. But the focus of Scriptures is not so much on what WE do but on what GOD does. Baptism is primarily God’s work, not ours. The emphasis is not on getting it right but on God making us righteous, not because we earned it but because God is gracious.

Watch our service from Sunday, February 20, with a special message from Dr. Jack Reese entitled “Right and Righteousness: Baptism and the Witness of the Church,” a celebration of God’s mercy, power, justice, and grace.
