Connect with us

The Northside YG exists to provide a safe, fun, and loving environment that continues the spiritual development of our youth. We offer classes, small groups, service opportunities, and relationship-building activities for students in 6th–12th grades. These are often tailored for our specific middle school and high school ministries, but we enjoy a number of combined events as well.

We believe that God has gifted our young people to serve in many different ways starting right now. It is our goal to help them discover those gifts, and provide opportunities to serve others using these gifts. In doing so, they provide new life and energy to our Northside body, as well as learn how to be a healthy member of the body of Christ once they graduate from our ministry.

Come join us!

We believe the Bible is amazingly cool and invites us into a lifelong journey of discovery and transformation! We eagerly invite you to join us in this daily walk, as we seek to grow deeper in relationship with our creator.

During the school year we offer Sunday morning classes, Sunday evening small groups, and Wednesday gatherings. During the summer we have a full calendar of activities including bible studies, local outings, service opportunities, camps, and Wilderness Trek.

True Story: Who We Are & Who God Is

Have you ever had to follow a rule that made absolutely no sense to you? Maybe it was a rule about what you could or couldn’t wear, where you could or couldn’t go, or who you could or couldn’t spend time with. When some people think about God, that is what they think about — a list of rules miles long that don’t seem important or relevant to their lives. But said there are only two rules that matter most: love God and love others as you love yourself. In this 4-week series in the book of James, we’ll discover that the right rules can set you free — and that free people don’t dance with danger, make decisions that benefit others, and give up their freedoms for others.

Tip of the month

What does God have to say about justice? We’re glad you asked, because many teenagers are asking this question! Here are a few ideas to help them find the answer: 1) Point out injustices in the news or your community. 2) Ask for their perspective. 3) Point out wrongs that are being made right. 4) Do something together to make the world more just.

Ben Crain

Youth Minister

Ben Crain began serving as the interim Youth Minister in August 2020, and became the full-time minister in January 2021. After a long career in Retail Management, Ben is thrilled to be working in full-time ministry, alongside the youth of Northside. Ben has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting/Drawing from Abilene Christian University. He loves incorporating his passion for art and all things visual, into his teaching of God’s word. His other interests, like Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, hiking, sports, and eating, help connect him to the youth group. Or, as some like to say, he doesn’t act or talk like someone his age. Ben takes this as a compliment. He sees the young people of Northside as a mission field, and feels called to share the love of Jesus with them, in the hope they will choose to follow Jesus and be blessed all of their days. He and his wife Rachel, have been married 19 years, and enjoy living in Bulverde with their two dogs.
